Ready to Run Wagons

Tower Models Limited Edition

The Midlands Coal Wagons

Tower Models have commissioned Dapol to produce a Limited Edition set of The Midlands Coal wagons which should become available around the end of November 2021. Initially six wagons have been announced for production at the Dapol factory here in the UK.

The Dapol ex Lionheart wagons as standard are done to the earlier 1892 specification but we have arranged with Dapol to change the underframes on most to cover the 1923 RCH specifications with brakes on both sides rather than brakes on a single side. With the change in regulations many of the wagon were converted to the later specification required when they ended up going in for maintenance. If you wanted to model them as earlier examples you could always remove the brake from the second side which would be much easier than trying to add the brakes if they were not present. The only exception to this is W J Busby where with time frame it would only of featured brakes on one side.

We have tried to go for coal trucks which had a relatively long operational life and also tried to pick wagons with attractive liveries where we can. . In the case of the The Midlands set I would consider doing up to six numbers of the Thomas Cash wagon as these look very nice together but is subject to enough people making a request for this and there being sufficient demand to warrant the additional numbers.

At this point I have not put on the original images for the wagons are these are copyrighted but if you check the HMRS website it doies show the basic layout of these. As and when we have our artwork done in the coming month I will update these pages as we get the colour layouts.

We are taking advance orders for these now for despatch as and when they become available.

As always if required we will also be offering our custom weathering service at £25.00 per vehicle with the customer choice of the degree of weathering.
