Ready to Run Wagons

Tower Models Limited

Edition Vans

Tower Models have commissioned Dapol to produce a Limited Edition set of Leith General Warehousing wagons based on the Dapol Salt Van model. A total of eight different running numbers are being produced of this iconic livery for the North East and Scottish region to enable people to represent the block appearance of them at time behind the likes of Claytons or J39's or individually further afield.

Although not technically correct as there are differences in the roof detail, straps and doors, there is no way Dapol would tool up for such a unique vehicle but these will give a very good representation and the numbers being produced are very small. These wagons also had a very long lifespan lasting from WW1 through until the withdrawal of the very last one in 1971. We have also allowed Dapol to produce a run themselves for this with a 9th alternate number for general release if they so wish to but no news on this as of yet.

The cost of these will be the same as the standard Dapol salt vans or there will be a deal available on the full set of eight of just £325.00 post free to mainland UK addresses.  Expected delivery on these is either December 2019 or January 2020. Only 25 of each are being produced and advance ordering is highly recommended.

As always if required we will also be offering our custom weathering service at £25.00 per vehicle with the customer choice of the degree of weathering.

This is an example of the model produced in OO, on the O gauge model we should have the 2 diagonal and vertical straps in black.

As and when we get artwork I will update this webpage.

The specifications for the Salt Van are:

  • Diecast Chassis
  • Compensation beam for smooth running
  • Injection moulded body and detail parts
  • Sprung metal buffers
  • Sprung couplings
  • Diecast open spoke wheels with blackened steel tyres.
