70000 BRITANNIA, the flagship of the BR standards appeared in January 1951, the first of 55 engines, all built at Crewe between January 1951 and September 1954.The first brand new design since nationalisation. The kit covers the first 44 locomotives, Nos. 70000-70044, which were fitted with the BR1 andBR1A type tenders. Regions for operating purposes in brackets: Nos. 70000 - 70014, BR1 type tender Built Crewe 1951 (Eastern) Nos. 70015 - 70024, BR1 type tender built Crewe 1951 (Western) Nos. 70025 - 70029, BR1A type tender built Crewe 1952/3 (Western) Nos. 70030 - 70044, BR1 type tender built Crewe 1952/3 (London Midland) The kit features the much praised 'DJH' one-piece boiler/firebox in the finest quality tin alloy, footplate casting and etched 'fold-up' cab and pre-bent etched 'fold-up' tender. Brass and nickel lost wax cast parts for fine detail. 3 types of smoke deflector included. Kit includes sprung buffers, all wires, handrail knobs and fully illustrated assembly diagrams and step by step written instructions. Requires: driving and bogie/tender wheels, motor and gearbox, paint, transfers and numberplates to complete. |
