Heljan Coach Lighting Units.

Heljan have now introduced an easy-to-use LED interior light bar for O gauge coaching stock. Produced with the kind permission of Train-Tech, these light bars do not require any wiring, soldering or track pick-ups and offer a friction-free solution for interior lighting of carriages. A built-in sensor detects the slightest movement to switch the lights ‘on’ when your train moves and capacitors ensure that they remain lit for several minutes after your train comes to a stand.

Power is supplied via standard coin batteries which will provide many hours of illumination and replacements are cheap and widely available. Please note the lighting units do not come with a battery though.

Heljan have produced these with their new O gauge Mk2 / Mk2a coaches in mind. These are due out in 2021 and the Mk2 coaches have been designed for simple ‘drop in’ installation of the light bars although with some adaptation the lighting bars could be used in various other coaches, be it kit built coaches or any of the ready-to-run coaches which are on the market but will require some modification to the interior unit before use.
