The mighty LNER V1/V3 class was a three cylinder large tank engine
designed by Sir Nigel Gresley for short, medium distance, stopping,
passenger trains.
The first 28 V1’s built and numbered 2900~2927 were built between
September 1930 and December 1931 in Doncaster.
The remaining batches numbered 2928~33, 2897~99, 402/ 4/ 714/ 20/ 22~25/
28/ 40/ 46/ 51/ 54/ 55/ 61/ 65~67/ 72/ 77~8183~91 & 496 entered
traffic between December 1934 and February 1939.
The last 10 engines built were fitted with up-rated boilers and classified
V3’s entering service during 1939~1940 and were numbered 390~393/395~399
& 401.
The class was allocated to depots in Scottish, North Eastern & Eastern
regions.
The last of the class was withdrawn from service in November 1964.
KIT CONTENTS
Components cover all the major detail differences between the batches
of V1 and V3 including the numerous styles of coal rails and coal hopper
variations.
Includes a one piece cast Pewter smoke box/boiler/firebox, opening smoke
box door with interior tube plate detail and etched tank and cab assembly.
Plus the usual fine brass and Pewter cast detail parts expected from
the prestigious ‘Piercy’ brand.
The kit requires Wheels, Motor & Gearbox(available seperately),
paint & transfers to complete.
