TOWER BRASS G.W.R. / B.R. CASTLE 5013-5079

Dear Sir,

You have expressed an interest in ordering a Tower Brass Castle.  The factory has told us they plan to despatch the first batch of Castles to us around the end of September, so they should arrived here late October.  The function of this letter is to allow customers the chance to firm up their order and to supply us with details for finishing locomotives as necessary.  There will be two options available.

BRASS BODIED LOCOMOTIVE ON FACTORY PAINTED BLACK CHASSIS.

This is the option for customers who wish to finish the locomotive themselves.  The locomotive is supplied 98% fully assembled and ready-to-run.  Supplied, but not fitted will be a choice of three chimneys, two sets of steam pipes, tapered and parallel buffers, lubricator, a selection of superheater covers and an assortment of chequer plates to modify the fitted original GWR steam chest into a later BR squared off type.  In simple English this enables the modeller to complete the locomotive as any member of the Castle class numbered 5013 – 5079 at any time in its lifespan.  To order one of these brass locomotives, which cost £995.00 please use the brass Castle order form.

FULLY FINISHED G.W.R. or B.R. CASTLE.

This is the option for customers who want us to complete the Castle in our own paint shops.  For customers who know exactly what they require please complete the form in full and return it to us.  For customers who are not sure of all the details then just let us know the name and number of the required locomotive, the livery and finish details plus any important points such as chimney type required.  We can either complete the rest of the form for you or can advise by phone or email to firm up the minor details.  For customers who want us to finish the details of the order form it is essential we know the period the model is to depict as particularly in the latter stages of their lives Castles were substantially rebuilt and there were many tender changes.

The cost of a fully finished model would be £1125.00 payable upon launch with a further £275.00 (Clean versions) or £300.00 (weathered model) payable upon completion approximately 6-10 weeks later.  To order one of these locomotives please us the fully finished order form.  In the case of the Hawksworth tendered variant the £1125.00 will not be charged until we take delivery from the factory.

Two options of the Castle will be available.  The Collett tendered version will be available in late October.  The Hawksworth tender version is still being prepared and will not be available until late 2010 or even just into 2011.  One point to be considered here is that on the 1st of January 2011 the VAT rate increases to 20% adding £25.00 to the cost of the locomotives and £7.50 to the painting fee.  If delivery of the locomotive is likely to carry over to the New Year the only way of avoiding this extra tax is to complete paying for the locomotive before the 31st December.  This we can only do with your agreement.

Pictures of the test sample are shown on our website and we do hope to have the sample on display at Telford.  Due to the current economic situation we are only producing 100 Collett tendered Castles and 50 Hawksworth tendered Castles.  There are no plans to produce a second batch.  We also reserve the right to increase prices of any unsold stock after the launch date.  Production costs are rising sharply in the Far East and the days of cheap brass are coming to an end.  Order the Castle now and we guarantee the price, subject to the VAT change.

Please return the relevant order form to us by post, fax or email.

                                                            Yours Faithfully,

                                                                                                                                    David Brewer.
